Adsense Channels

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

If you would like to make money with Adsense you need to be able to track which Adsense ads perform the best for your site. We can track everything from ad placement and format to even what color is the most effective.

The easiest way to do this is by using Adsense Channels. Any time you make changes to your site, take advantage of channels to measure and observe the effects. Whether you want to track a specific type of ad placement or an entire site, custom and URL channels will help you determine what will be most successful.

You can create Adsense Channels before or after creating Adsense adverts. Once you have logged in to your Adsense account, click the tab at the top called Adsense Setup then click the smaller tab called “channels”.

Adsense Channels are easy to setup. We have two options, we can create a custom channel by clicking Add new custom channels and giving it a name, or you can use a custom URL and track your Adsense ads through a specific web address.

There is also a box you should tick called “Targeting”. Targetable ads are for advertisers, they will see the ad placement you defined among the available places on which to place their ads. Check the box marked Show this channel to advertisers as an ad placement and enter a description for your channel.

Advertisers will see the name and description, so provide something accurate and informative that will represent your site well. Be aware that should you choose to edit the name of the channel in the future, you will lose any existing advertiser bids for that channel.

To be honest I have never used “Targeting” but clicking this feature allows us to put in a description so we can actually see where our clicks are coming from.

For instance my zippo store has Adsense ads with the name of the ad unit and size (eg zippo468×60) and a description of where it is located (eg hometop).also have Adsense ads that just show on certain pages so I call these (tricks120×600) and a description of (tricks left) or I could use a “Custom URL” to track this ad unit.

On my other site I might call the channels (adsense300×250) and a description of (adsenseleftpost).

This way I can track all my Adsense ads to see which are successful and which ones are not working. If I was only getting a few clicks on a certain Adsense Channel, I could move it to see if it performs better or maybe try a different color.

Already have Adsense ads setup? You can just go to the Manage Ads tab, Edit Ad Settings on the right and towards the bottom you will see the Adsense Channels you have created. You can then add or remove a channel and click Save Settings.

You can also delete a Adsense Channel, just click the channel you wish to delete, then look for a little drop down menu box and use the removed checked line.

Bored On A Long Drive

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

It’s Funny Friday and today’s video is an anti boredom campaign ad.

Just imagine next time you are a passenger bored on a long drive, wouldn’t you just love to try this once?

I don’t know about you but I think the red car should have been a Volvo and had a bowling hat on the back shelf (Aussies will get what I mean). Then maybe the driver of the yellow car might have been a bit more careful, because we all know how bad elderly Volvo drivers are….

Robin Williams Golf

Friday, December 19th, 2008

It’s Funny Friday and today I have a classic Robin Williams video. It is about Scotsman and golf.

Warning! It does contain swearing.

Being a frustrated golfer, there are 2 lines I love. The part where Robin says “you go wacking away and each time you miss you feel like your going to have a stroke. F***, that’s what we’ll call it – a stroke. Because every time you miss you feel like your going to die.

Also, another funny line is, “and right at the end we’ll put a flat piece of grass and a little flag to give you f***in hope but then i’ll put in a pool and a sandbag to f*** with ya ball”

Even if you hate golf this video should make you laugh.

Having played golf for a number of years, I think this video is right on the money. If you play golf leave a comment and let me know your thoughts about this video.

IM Cops

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Just recently I received an invitation to join a new forum IMCops (Internet Marketing Community On Patrol Service).

Basically the forum is where Internet Marketers get to Police the IM Community and report violators.

IMCops came about from the prompting of many people, Internet Marketers, Product Creators, Subscribers, Graphic Designers and others because they have all become tired of the Product De-Valuation and License Violations that has been going on.

What do you guys think?

Yes I agree – Example, you paid $47 for resell rights to a product and it clearly states that this package can not be sold for less than $27, then a week later you see it being sold for $17 or even given away for free in a Giveaway Event.

What do you do? Break the license and sell it for $10?

No I disagree – Example, people will be accused with no way to defend themselves. This is going to far! It will just turn the forum into a free for all.

Will evidence be provided and retractions posted after being found innocent?

Leave a comment and let me know what you think about IMCops.

Funny Friday

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Every Friday I will be posting a funny video that will hopefully put a smile on your face. Today I would like to start with a video that always makes me laugh.

Any lady in relationship should understand this video which shows us the difference between how women and men shower. It contains no nudity and I would probably rate this 13+.

New Google PR Update

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Is there a new Google PR Update coming?

There is talk about a new Google PR update going on.  A few forums have started threads about a new Google Page Rank being done. Some are happy about their new PR, while others are complaining about a drop in Page Rank.

Most comments left have been about no changes as yet but some sites have had only their internal pages PR updated.

There was one comment about a 25th December update so hopefully you still have a little time to get do follow backlinks to your sites.

Who knows and to be honest who cares. I don’t really worry about Page Rank as I have had no trouble getting onto page 1 of Google with sites that had 0/10 Page Rank.

Do you care about PR? Leave a comment and let me know.
